Education and Outreach

As part of the SPC's education and outreach, it holds several in-person and online meetings and educational events a year. The SPC believes it will require collaboration throughout the supply chain to affect the change needed to realize sustainable packaging. As a result, the SPC continually looks for opportunities to advance its mission through participation in and hosting of conferences and meetings.

We are pleased to announce that, as with previous years, we are co-locating our meeting with the Sustainable Packaging Forum to be held September 15-16 at the Arizona Grand Resort.  Please note that you must register separately for both the SPC Fall Meeting and the Sustainable Packaging ForumSustainable Packaging Forum Information and Registration


Program Highlights

As Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) has gained momentum, it is timely that the SPC take the opportunity to take a deep dive into the topic along with expert guests.  Sessions will include:
  • Garth Hickle, Product Stewardship Team Leader for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, as our keynote speaker and leader for an introductory session on EPR.
  • Derek Stephenson, President of StewardEdge and expert in the development of EPR systems from the ground up, will discuss the approach of Vermont and other states.  
  • Interactive working sessions focused on discussion and prioritization of the key issues that the packaging industry faces with regards to EPR. 
  • Pre-meeting project ideation sessions on Composting and International Education and Outreach, and a working meeting for members of the Labeling for Recovery project working on pilots.

Members must register by Friday, September 3 to avoid a $150 late registration fee.  
SPC members receive one or two complimentary registrations, depending on membership level. Additional member registrations are $595.  
$11,000 and $6,000-level corporate members: Two complimentary attendees.
$2,500-level corporate members, academic institutions and government agency members: One complimentary attendee.
