International Education and Outreach
The Sustainable Packaging Coalition is the preeminent industry working group that focuses on sustainability in packaging via an industry wide collaborative model. The SPC is comprised of member companies conducting business with varying scope from local family-owned operations to multinational footprint. The SPC's international outreach activities focus primarily on sustainability education that respond to the need for sustainability understanding in regions of the world with high product and package production. The SPC welcomes opportunities to collaborate with local entities to advance the knowledge about packaging-related sustainability issues.
The inaugural session for the international edition of the Essentials of Sustainable Packaging
was offered in Mexico City in collaboration with Asociación Mexicana de Envase y Embalaje
(AMEE), the Mexican Packaging Association.on November 2011. In February 2012, the course was offered in Hong Kong. Starting in May 2012, the Essentials of Sustainable Packaging
will be available in major cities in China. They include Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiam|en, Hangzhou, and Nanjing.
The Essentials course can be tailored to meet your company's internal sustainability needs including goals prioritization, metrics determination, and setting benchmarks. A tailored session presents an opportunity to bring the entire packaging and related sustainability staff from package design, graphics, marketing and management to a common level of understanding about how sustainability relates to the packaging operations.
