The Sustainable Packaging Coalition® (SPC) is an industry working group dedicated to a more robust environmental vision for packaging. Through strong member support, an informed and science-based approach, supply chain collaborations and continuous outreach, we endeavor to build packaging systems that encourage economic prosperity and a sustainable flow of materials.

The SPC is a project of GreenBlue®, a nonprofit sustainability institute.

Using Recycled Content
Guidelines for Post-Consumer Recycled Content in Plastic Packaging, will be released at the SPC Fall Meeting in Phoenix.  The Guidelines offer practical and pragmatic information on the use of recycled content for 27 high volume plastic packaging applications. More than 30 member companies contributed to the development of the Guidelines

SPC Fall Members-Only Meeting 2010
Registration is now open for the SPC Fall Members-Only Meeting to be held September 13-14 in Phoenix, AZ.  The meeting will focus on the key issues that the packaging industry faces with regards to Extended Producer Responsibility. For the fifth year, the SPC Members Meeting is co-located with the Sustainable Packaging Forum.

Labeling for Recovery – Member Updates
The SPC Labeling for Recovery Project Team is finalizing data requirements and a partnership with Earth911.com for access to recycling information by material and package format, is planning the Pilot for launch in early 2011, and has an RFP currently out for a Quantitative Study of the proposed SPC Labeling Project design.
